The demo aircraft is the BOAC Unarmed high speed courier G-AGFV High speed courier aircraft operated by British Overseas Airways (BOAC) and adapted to carry one passenger in an extremely compact compartment in the bomb bay on high speed envoy missions. The BOAC markings were a pale attempt at trying to convey to the enemy that the aircraft was unarmed. The Mosquito's enviable high speed performance was a very handy defence.

Words & Opinions from the Author

Many of us have purchased the latest title from Microsoft entitled

Microsoft Flight Simulator X

There are two versions currently available.

Standard Version & Deluxe Version

The Standard Version comes with the following:

  • 2 DVD (DVD Drive required)
  • 18 airplanes
  • 40 high-detail airports (16 new to Flight Simulator)
  • 28 high-detail cities
  • 30+ structured missions

Whereas the Deluxe Version comes with the following:

  • 2 DVD (DVD Drive required)
  • 24 airplanes
  • 45 high-detail airports (21 new to Flight Simulator)
  • 38 high-detail cities
  • 50+ structured missions
  • Glass panel (G1000) cockpit
  • Tower controller
  • Flight Simulator X SDK Software

If you have purchased the "Standard" version - you have wasted your money!
You WILL NOT be able to upgrade your software and you will not be
privy to any add-on's that require the "Deluxe" version.

The "Deluxe" Version is the ONLY WAY TO GO!

Immersive world

Flight Simulator X offers players a rich and innovative gaming experience with new technological advancements, incredible graphics and added realism, including weather, time of day and seasons. Pilots can watch moving cars and detailed buildings in cities below, traffic on highways, indigenous houses, farmland and livestock, and wildlife in their natural habitats.

Mission-based game play

With the addition of new mission-based game play, players have a specific purpose as their world comes alive for the first time with automobile traffic, moving boats and ships, and animal life. With more than 50 new missions to choose from, aviators can build their skill levels and engage in even more stimulating game play than before. Players can choose to compete in the Red Bull air race or bring relief materiel to the Congo, keeping track of their progress on each mission.

New aircraft

Flight Simulator X provides pilots with the ability to fly the aircraft of their dreams, from the DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver float plane and Grumman G-21A Goose to the AirCreation 582SL Ultralight and Maule M7-260C Orion with wheels and skis. Players will be amazed at the details, such as shaded rivets, reflective paint, and glint from glass and chrome, as they view the world from 10 to 30,000 feet.

Connected world

Through increased online game play capabilities, “Flight Simulator X” offers players a connected world where they can choose whom they want to be, from air-traffic controller to pilot or co-pilot, as they interact with other aviators from around the globe by chatting in real time via headset and keyboard.

Interactive airports

More than 24,000 airports feature artificial intelligence-controlled jetways, fuel trucks and moving baggage carts, allowing players to explore their hometown or venture to a favorite far-off city.

And as we have all discovered, Flight Simulator X was designed to operate utilizing

Windows Vista & DirectX 10

Both of which were released on January 30, 2007. Incorporated within Windows Vista is the new DirectX 10. This new operating system is leaps and bounds above Windows XP and will provide a better Flight Simulating experience. Optimal experience will be obtained with the purchase of Windows Home Premium Edition or greater. Unlike Windows XP, be forewarned before upgrading your OS. Suggested retail price for Windows Vista Home Premium full package product, $239.00 USD. Suggested upgrade retail price, $159.00 USD. This price only includes ONE license for ONE computer. Additional licenses are only discounted an average of 10% per Microsoft's web site.

In order to achieve descent frame rates with both Windows XP & Windows Vista and still have some measure of detail, several authors have devised "Tweaks" that we all can incorporate into our new Flight Simulator X to make the simulation more enjoyable.

Throughout this Website will be listed several "Tweaks", recommendations and web links from various web sites to obtain additional files and to read within forums to help you understand and implement certain modifications that will enhance your Flight Simulator X experience.

The "tweaks" that are listed throughout this web page have been utilized by myself; resulting in a substantial increase in frame rates
(from 8.0 fps before the tweaks to 18 - 45 frames/sec. after the "
tweaks")

All Tweaks listed within this site have been tested using
Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe with Service Pack 1 (SP1)
and
Microsoft Flight Simulator X:Acceleration Expansion Pack/SP2
